Bike Review:
Evil Following LS
A Short Travel Ripper That Still Punches Above its Weight
To continue my tradition of pushing short-travel bikes into big, unforgiving terrain, I threw a leg over the Evil Following—and it did not disappoint. When the original Following hit the scene, it marked a shift in what 29ers could be. Back then, big wheels meant awkward geometry, stretched-out cockpit positions, and bikes that felt fast in all the wrong ways. But Evil rewrote the rulebook, and a few years later, 29ers dominate the trail scene—and for good reason.
The current Following is more capable than ever, even though it still sits on the shorter-travel end of Evil’s lineup at 120mm of rear travel. But don’t let that number fool you. This bike is more rally car than XC racer. Today’s ride took it far beyond its design brief, and it handled it like a champ.

Geometry and Updates:
The Following LS is equipped with a well-engineered suspension system that includes 140mm of rear travel and a 150mm front fork. This setup is optimized for tackling a variety of trail conditions, providing a plush and responsive ride. The suspension handles both big hits and small bumps with ease, thanks to its high-quality shock and fork. The bike’s geometry contributes to stable and precise handling, making it well-suited for technical descents and demanding climbs. The combination of suspension travel and frame design ensures that the Following LS delivers a smooth and controlled ride on rugged terrain.
The Climb:
Riding the Evil Following LS is a dynamic and engaging experience. The bike’s lightweight carbon frame and well-tuned suspension contribute to an agile and responsive ride, making it a joy to handle on technical trails. The power transfer is efficient, allowing for quick acceleration and confident climbing. On descents, the Following LS remains stable and controlled, offering a fun and exhilarating ride. The bike’s design ensures that it feels connected to the trail, providing a natural and engaging riding experience.
